Atlantic Starr founding member Wayne Lewis dies

Wayne Lewis

Wayne Lewis - one of the founding members of Atlantic Starr - has died at the age of 68.

The band announced the news on their social media platforms - asking fans to keep Wayne's family "in their prayers".

Wayne was one of three brothers involved in Atlantic Starr who formed in the mid-1970s but had their biggest hits in the 80s - making radio-friendly pop-soul including "Secret Lovers", "Secret Shadow" and "Always" which reached the top 10 on both sides of the Atlantic:

Tributes have come in from across the soul music industry - including from Confunkshun who said they were "so saddened" to hear of Wayne's passing.

Others have remembered Wayne's vocal ability and delivery - helping to make Atlantic Starr a pivotal part of 1980s R&B.
